Untitled (2021)
In a new series of works on paper exploring the uncanny – photographic artist Bindi Vora and painter Maarten van den Bos collaborate artistically for the first time bringing together their interests in mark making and gesture. Untitled probes the ideas related to loss and absence as performed through a series of isolated limbs; they grapple with hidden meanings and the mystic using their limited palette of materials – acrylic, pastel and found imagery – intuitively applied to the surface to evoke their desire to create a structure through which to support the limbs. These entangled afflictions mediate the notion of otherness, belonging and separation.
